Getting “Crafty” at East Cherokee

Joan Ireland and her husband Rex moved from California to The Orchards of East Cherokee in Woodstock back in October in order to be closer to their daughter, but they got much more than just that.

Joan said they chose The Orchards of East Cherokee, an active adult and maintenance friendly community built by The Orchards Group, because they liked the neighborhood, the location and the peaceful country like setting. The couple also felt that it would be a great place to start their new life here in Metro Atlanta. The community is close to plenty of golf courses, which appealed to Rex. It is also close to all of the activities that Roswell, Alpharetta and the recently rejuvenated downtown Woodstock have to offer.

Their new home features two stories with the owner’s suite on the main level. “We love the spaciousness and natural light it provides,” explained Joan. “It is a larger home than we anticipated owning here in Atlanta, but we love being able to spread out and enjoy our new formal living and dining rooms.”

Joan and Rex also love the communities’ amenities and events such as the meet and greet parties and the T.G.I. Fridays. Joan even started her own activity, a craft group. The craft group meets at the clubhouse once a month for now, but they are looking into meeting twice a month as participation grows. The craft group allows participants to bring whatever project they are currently working on including crocheting, cross-stitching, quilting, knitting, painting and more. If participants want, Joan also offers a knitting lesson during this time.
