Habersham Grove owner featured in AJC

When Ann McGowan retired from the Marist School’s athletic department after 20 years in Atlanta, she didn’t have to move far to get the “good life.”  McGowan and her dog Holly were recently featured in the AJC Homefinder’s Active Adult Communities section. McGowan was able to stay within the city of Cumming, Ga. by moving into The Orchards of Habersham Grove.  This move allowed McGowan downsize her home and increase the fun all with a maintenance free lifestyle.

First of all, McGowan loves The Orchards of Habersham Grove because of its neighborly feel. With only 88 condos, “everybody knows everyone, and I mean that in a good sense,” she said. “Nobody is a busy-body. They wave. You’ll stop and visit.”

But downsizing her home doesn’t mean McGowan’s new home is cramped. In fact, the opposite is true, and she loves the abundant space she’s acquired. Her home features the Charleston plan, which is a spacious plan. “I thought that’s good for family getting together; you don’t feel like you’re squashed in,” she said.

Because The Orchards Group builds homes that reflect the needs of active adults, homes adequately accommodate residents. Among many other features, doorways are wider to allow wheelchair accessibility.

The Orchards Group builds high quality homes that allow active adults to downsize and fully enjoy living.
